The #BOFaces series introduces you to the people making up BlueOrchard’s dedicated team, which is spread across our offices around the world. This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Joy D’Souza, Senior Investment Officer in Private Debt based in the Nairobi office. Continue reading if you want to know what is Joy´s most memorable experience during her time with BlueOrchard and which global challenges are the biggest in her view.

Joy, what do you like most about working in the impact investing industry?

My job gives me a great sense of purpose because of the many livelihoods I am able to positively affect through my position as a Senior Investment Officer in Private Debt. My happiest moment is when I see portfolio growth in an investee that we have funded and getting to hear inspiring stories from some of the end borrowers.

What is the most memorable experience you have made during your time at BlueOrchard?

When we finally got to connect and spend time with the entire Nairobi team during a weekend trip to Rift Valley, Nyahururu after working from home for almost two years. It was great to experience a different and more personal side to my colleagues.

And lastly, what is the biggest global challenge in your view?

Poverty and social inequality.

Thank you, Joy!
