This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Anne Jackermeier, Impact Manager, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

  • Anne, why did you join BlueOrchard?

“In pursuit of purpose, I sought to leverage my banking skills to impact positively. I aimed for an international and diverse environment where I could enhance people’s lives. By aligning my values with my work, I ventured into impact investing, supporting businesses that create meaningful change and yield financial returns. This fulfills me, knowing my investments foster societal growth, promoting overall sustainability and equality. Impact investing gives me a profound sense of fulfilment and purpose.”

  • What do you enjoy the most working at BlueOrchard?

“Working at Blue Orchard is incredibly fulfilling for me. One of the aspects I enjoy most is the sense of unity and purpose that permeates throughout the company. It’s truly inspiring to be surrounded by colleagues who are dedicated to making a positive impact. We have a shared vision and collective understanding that creates an energizing work environment. The work we do and the positive impact we make in communities globally is evident. I’ve also had memorable experiences, such as visiting affordable private schools in Kenya, which have become cherished memories.”

  • What motivates you?

“I find motivation in various aspects of my life. One key motivator is engaging in work that has a tangible and impactful outcome. Seeing the direct results of my efforts and knowing I am making a meaningful contribution gives me a sense of purpose. Bringing new ideas to life through creative processes also motivates me. Developing impact strategies and processes energises me. Continuous learning is another significant motivator. I have a curiosity to expand my knowledge, learn new skills, and stay updated on industry trends. I enjoy interacting with people from different backgrounds as it fosters creativity and broadens my understanding of the world.”

  • What is your favourite book?

“I have a particular fondness for Samantha Shannon’s dystopian novel “The Bone Season” and the “Throne of Glass” series by Sarah J Maas. These books are favoured for their captivating female protagonists who navigate significant challenges. Another book that piques my interest is “The Chimp Paradox” by Steve Peters, primarily due to its enlightening exploration of our mental processes.”
