This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Veronika Giusti Keller, Head of Impact Management, based in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • Why did you join BlueOrchard?

15 years ago I had finished my masters degree in development finance. I had an offer to go back to my previous job at a bank in the UK, but I remembered visiting a microfinance institution in Peru from my previous job at a rating agency and started investigating how I could be more involved in that industry. I found BlueOrchard was managing the largest microfinance fund, but didn’t see any jobs openings. I decided to send an email, explaining that I was so interested in working at BlueOrchard. Turned out, the company was finalizing the hiring process for the investment team and my email came just in time. The rest is history!

  • What do you enjoy most about working at BlueOrchard?

My colleagues and my team! Smart professionals that are incredibly passionate about impact and making a change in the world. I have been working in BlueOrchard for over 15 years and many colleagues became very close friends. BlueOrchard attracts people from so many different cultures and its amazing to be able to learn from them.

  • What is the most memorable experience you have made during your time at BlueOrchard?

Meeting the end beneficiaries of our managed Funds. Over the years I have collected incredible stories of people from different backgrounds and continents and varying cultures. People that have had challenges in life, but that manage to strive, innovate and improve the lives of their children with hard work and dedication. I have always found this part of my job so inspirational. I even keep in touch with some of them!
